Put some bling in your basket.
I’m back from the 2010 Tucson Gem and Mineral Show, and I brought back some beautiful pieces I will be integrating into my designs. Jasper pet jewelry is on its way!
My goal was to find really different cuts and finishes. Upon my return, I was organizing the booty, and I discovered that I had acquired a bit of jasper. While all very different in shape, color and texture — I was surprised.
The jasper variations that I picked up came with wonderful names such as peppermint jasper, picasso jasper, dalmatian jasper (for obvious reason), and more. The mineral oxides in the jasper contribute to the variation in color and banding of colors or patterns. Each stone is remarkable because of the “landscape” it reveals. The way that each stone is cut and polished creates a feel and contributes to its beauty.
I will assuredly turn these beautiful beads into beautiful bling. As a trend, I believe we will soon see jasper utilized or mimicked in the fashion and pet jewelry world. I know it will be a main stay in my pet fashion creations…stay tuned!
